Hopefully someone can give me some good advice- I missed two deer today and both shots sailed over there backs. The shots were well within my shooting range and both broadsides. Thinking about the shots - I know that on both of them I settled my pin by coming down on my target? Should I be approaching the sight picture differently? Thanks

Questions:
1. Was you in a tree?
2. Did the deer duck/ jump the string?

In a tree the actual yardage is closer because of the angle.

How did you "come down" on the target? If you dropped your bow arm that is probably the reason for the miss. You have to bend at the waist, not drop the arm down. You would draw your bow just as if you were shooting straight out from your tree stand and then bend at the waist to get the bead on your deer. A dropped arm will cause major problems...especially at close range.

I personally shoot high when my follow-through mechanics get sloppy, lucky for me, I noticed that over the summer! I'd hit the target bag if I were you for an hour or soto get your confidence back up so you can take your shots knowing where they'll end up. Hopefully it'll be something that's an easy fix.

I'll bet you didn't pick a spot on the deer before you released.

Maybe a case of the "Fever". If thats the case you just have to calm down and pick a spot and release. Good luck.
