Default NC Activity 11/5/08

Was so frustrated last week with not seeing a single deer that I decided to cheat a little yesterday afternoon. I took my rifle out and decided to sit in a tower stand overlooking a 10 acre bean field that I had not hunted yet this year. At 5:03 2 big does with 3 of this year's doe fawns came out to feed. About 15 min. later a 1.5 yr. old 4 pt. came out approx. 75 yrds. downwind of them. He paid them no attention at all.He only looked their wayonce. He just fed across the field. 10 min. later the biggest cowhorn with brow tines ( 15-16" wide, 14-15" tall, 5" brow tine on rt. side and 3" brow tine on left) came out on the doe trail. He briefly pushed the mature does around for about 30 seconds but really was not interested in them. He fed across the field and ended up close to the 4 pt. His tarsals were very dark and he rub urinated on them about 50 yrds. in front of me. His neck was a little swolen. I aged him at 2.5 as my guess. Big body but I'm pretty sure he was no more than 2.5. I do have to say that if I would have had my bow I would have been tempted because of the unique rack but I am hoping to see him next year. Difficult to manage this place because this particular farm of ours joins another persons and this field joins his fieldonly separated by a path right down the middle. I can see his stand with my binos[:@]

Ahh...I see you are familiar with how the farm tracts are around here. Yeah, we are pretty cut up. Yesterday I was in the northeast corner of Jonhston county which is about 45min. east of Raleigh. You are in the western part of the state? How large (pop.) is the city/town you live in?
