Default Heavy B Didn't Come Home This Morning!

Went out tonight and got in place on the hilltop North of Heavy B and settled in with a pine tree breaking up my form. I watched him lay there until the sun was over the horizon. As he stood up, I grunted a couple times into the wind (I was downwind from him). He looked my direction and stood there like he was tempted, but turned into the wind and started South. I grunted a couple more times and he grunted back, but continued South. He was out of sight before the sunlight failed. If the winds are still out of the South in the morning, I am going to my West fence and setup just outside the sanctuary and try again. Maybe he'll be more confrontational in the morning.

This is why he is as big as he is, he ain't no dummy! Of course, once the rut kicks in he might be a little more careless. I am going to continue to give him my undivided attention until I either get busted by him or Obama takes our hunting rights away.

Update:
Heavy B must have been upset with the election results, he didn't come back this morning. Of course it could just be the high winds and lightning made him decide to go to deeper woods (I hope!).

That's some almost tough words coming from the guy begging everyone else to hunt with them!

Seriously though AF, he may not have liked the fact that he could'nt see the intruder. Do you own a decoy? If not,now may be the time to get one!

AF- fwiw, I had 3 similar responses from 3 separate big bucks so far this year pre-rut. I found with the last two while they are willing to ignore the grunt tube, the snort-wheeze seemed to light a fire under them. The big one I arrowed was heading away into the timber after looking but otherwise ignoring a couple grunts from me. Once I gave him a snort-wheeze, he was ready to take the gloves off and came back into range. It's like the grunt tube says "Hey anyone, look I'm over here" while the snort wheeze says "Hey Mr. No-balls,Ya thats right I'm talkin' to you! I'm gonna take your core area and any women who come near it! Whatcha' gonna do about it punk?".

I tried the grunt wheeze on him yesterday to no avail. I do have a target/decoy that I could haul there in the AM. I will get this bugger. He's not Ole Grandpa, but a very respectable buck.
