Default OH man guy's....What do I do?

Hey everyone. Well as some of you might know I shot my very first deer ever in 25 years. Well last night around 6:00 I arrowed a buck. The arrow broke off inside of him, and I had a hard time locating blood. I finally found some and fallowed it for a little bit, but I think we were pushing him, so I marked the last spot of blood and we backed out of the woods and went home, hoping it would lay down and die. I think it was a good shot. The blood is a bright red. Man what do I do? I didn't get much sleep last night to say the least.I am going out this morning to look for him. I hope I can find him.........

Thanks guy's

You did the right thing of backing out. Hopefully he laid down close to last blood and he expired there.

Good luck! Do you know where the hit was?

Guys and Gals. There is a reason these fine people post these knowledgeable threads listed above. Read them and understand that the information comes from folks who have hunted for years and years. Please go read the "Recovery" thread.

You did the right thing by backing out but you also stated you may have pushed the deer. My philosophy goes like this, If I can not see the deer drop, I will not move, make a sound etc. for a minimum of one hour. If I see the deer drop I will glass it for a minimum of 15 minutes to ensure it is down.

Think of it this way: You spend all the time preparing for the bow season, practicing, gear checkout and placement, scouting etc. Then you shoot and in my opinion waste all that prep time by not waiting to recover the animal. Please read the thread, it will serve you well !!!!!!!!

Good luck finding your deer.

Dave

What the others said. Follow these steps:

1. Read the recovery thread

2. Print out the recovery thread to take with you

3. Go follow the tips in the recovery thread

4. Find your deer

5. Take pictures (following the tips in the take good pictures thread)

6. Post up the story, pictures, and accounts of how the stickied threads helped you and receiving showers of congratulations, praise, and most importantly avoid a sack punch

Good luck

I wish you a successful, speedy recovery.

I think you did MOST everything right.....but I don't know how far you followed the blood trail. I hope it's a moot point.

X2. Those are deer hunting rules to live by.
