I hunted the other day in 42 mph (gusting) winds. The wind was blowing all over the place. Has anyone noticed this to stay true? Or is the wind normally consistent in high winds?
Yes ICALL, I've noticed the same thing. The wind comes in hard from the SW and the next gust is NE, I didn't know if the fact that I was in a Valley made it swirl from the opposing mountain, but I certainly understand the question and agree!!
Simply put, does the wind commonly swirl when it is blowing above 20 mph?
It almost has to Willie. I use Milk weed for checking my wind direction when hunting and I'll let a piece go and 5 minutes later that same piece Is coming back to me going In the opposite direction during gusty windy days.
I hunted a new spot last Sunday and the wind was really blowing. I wasn't sure if it was the gusting, or the location. I'm fairly certain it was the wind.
