Default RE: Winter Wheat or Cut Corn ?

I would personally stick to the cut corn edges until they have it pretty well picked clean.....The winter wheat is what I like to depend on during late season. The biggest problem though is the deer will tend to feed toward the center of the field. So you need to find thier coridoor to the field (unless you are gun hunting )

Corn and beans are a great draw this time of year, but don't overlook that wheat field. I also say it will be really good during the late season. I plant some every year, and it is always the last thing green. Whenevery thing else is dead and brown the wheat will still be very green, and they will hammer it. Good Luck.

I have deer piling out into my wheat plots every evening. They are really hammering it right now. And there is a standing corn field on the neighbors property.

Deer are browsers, they are eating all of those things right now, trick is figuring out the tiiming. Last week I watched a spike eat leaves and branch tips for over and hour not 50 yards from a field of standing corn. Point is they are not eating just one of those food sources, they may fill up more on one compared to the others but they are definitely eating all three(corn, beans, wheat) and lots of other browse as well.

I have had good luck with winter wheat in the early morning I have always thought it may have something to do with the moisture and dew on the wheat in the morning, could help them meet water needs and maybe aid in digestion. Not real sure just a guess, but I see them a lot in the am.

Evneing are still good especially as the other food sources run low.
