Default Savor these times gentlemen

During the season, things can get hectic.....don't let things bring you down. Savor the memories that make hunting "hard" yet so dang fun:

Warm cup of coffee in the morning

Slipping and rolling down a hill with your treestand attached (where else could you get away with this move!)....

Having to unzip 4 zippers just in the nick of time to "relieve" yourself

The piercing cold of a north wind.......

Hunting all day just to clink your bow before the shot, thereby blowing your chance....

Sleeping 3 hours and forcing yourself to get up.....

Forcing yourself to shoot your bow 4-5 times a week to keep in top form, even when it is 25 degrees outside......

Washing your clothes 499 times to keep them scent free

Doing 44 times your normal amount of housework to keep the little lady happy so that you can hunt happily

To all our brothers and sisters that can't hunt due to injury or circumstance, we must keep going on their behalf and not let things worry us during this beautiful time of year. Keep at it for when the season ends, it ends for 9 months.

SAVOR these times...long live the hunt!

And force yourself to believe in your spot....EVEN WHEN a lady on a horse with a dog trailing rides through. You still might see a buck (I did).

These guys would have scoffed at our little problems while hunting!

I read your post Jeff...hahahahahaha! I once was bowhunting when I heard a dog barking....the dog proceeded to howllllllllllllllllll then run over to my tree and piss all over the base....he then howwwllwlwlwlwwl again! 2 minutes later 2, 75 year old gentlemen walked over to me and said they were roosting turkey and that they were happy that they could "scare up" some deer for me on my bowhunt. I thanked them...then as they walked away, I climbed down and got the hell out of that spot LOL.

Nice post. Just remember 6 months from now we all wish we could be back in the stand.

Thank you 130...that is what I am saying...no regrets, no worries, just hunt. Have fun. Soak it up and forget about all of the nonsense. I don't know, I just got to thinking in the woods today after sitting in 20mph winds, seeing trees fall over, watching a beautiful coyote, and just basically going insane..

This is the toughest one for me. As much as I love being in the woods and hunting, it is still tough to get out of bed on a short night of rest.

Great post! I always have a hard time getting hunting out of my head during the season. Can't concentrate on anything but hunting...well maybe not anything! Once I get out there the stress melts off of me. One of these days I want to check my blood pressure after being in the woods for 2 days vs being inthis crazy rat race. What a wonderful sport!

Savor indeed, I have managed only three sits since VA's opener Oct 4 and didn't hunt at all in NC this season. As usual work is crushing me and I just can't find the time.

As I'm driving in this morning and it's crisp and cool out and that 1/4 moon is way up in the sky well after light I am so wishing I was in a stand somewhere, anywhere. Alas it is not to be, soladies and gentlemengo if you can and enjoy it to the fullestand know thatsomewhere in Southeast VA there is a guy in a cubicle going totally insane(that'd be me).

Good luck!
