I always use a harness.

Not just for safety, but there have also been a number of deer that I would not have gotten a shot on if it weren't for the ability to lean out a little extra to get around an obstacle. So for me, its not only common sense as far as safety goes, but its also a practical and applicable bowhunting tool.

100% honesty....I "used to" not use mine (for all intents and purposes) unti I reached my hunting height (I hunt exclusively from a climber). But....I've begun to use mine on the way up, now....and it's really not much slower. That's what I used to worry about....PLUS I liked getting fully dressed at my apex.

It's just not a big deal, though....sine I've been hooking up on the ascent.

I was actually thinking about this topic today as I ascended.....thinking about how many lock-on guys (probably over 90%, if everyone's honest) don't hook up on their ascent. To me....that's WAYyyyy more dangerous than doing it in a climber.

Should maybe add Always except when going up the tree.

Maybe, Bbear....but from what "they" say....that's when you're most prone to fall. I don't get why it's OK in some's eyes to only hook-up when they get to the top.....but like I said....i did it in a climber and have for 3 seasons.

Funny thing is.....whenI had lock-ons....I used the summit system and hooked up before I left the gorund.

Maybe this is a dumb question but.....how can you be strapped to the tree while you climb up? I don't understand.

I always wear mine..once I get in my seat.

Summit, Fall Guy and others mske systems for doing just that. The summit system is about $30/EA.
