1st hunt of the 08 season updated

Well boys and girls I am finally back from my six week business trip. Stands have been setup for over two months and it has come time for the son and I to spend some quality time in the woods. Going out on our first hunt this evening. I hope my son ( Nick ) tags out, this is his third year bow hunting with one miss and no other shots. Wish us luck !!!!

10/14/08 Well here are the results. Nick (my son) saw 2 does, nothing in range. I saw nothing) my primary stand has several blown trees around it which must have happened while I was on my extended business trip. Relocated the stand that evening approx 75 yards to were the deer have made new trails around the blown down trees. Will try that stand next week sometime.

10/15/08 2nd hunt. Nick went to his secondary stand and saw a spiker and 4 does. He decided to wait for something a little bigger than a spiker, he did not take a shot at the does because 2 of them were fawns.
( He figured they still needed momma a little longer). What a patient youngman).

I was at my secondary stand and had 11 does of various ages and 2 smaller bucks who were fighting like crazy within range. Both bucks are what I call trash bucks. I considered taking the larger of the 2 just to cull the herd but decided to let him walk so Nick would possibly get a shot at him. Anyways, Bow hunting with my teenage son is a BLAST !!!!!.
