Default Magnus Broadheads

I personally am a fan of Magnus broadheads. I am currently using Magnus snuffer 3blades at 125gr.

I am thinking of going to Magnus Stinger Buzzcut 4 blade heads at 100gr.

Whats a magnus head that I might want to change to or should I stick with the snuffers?

whats wrong with the snuffers?? just curious....wouldnt go around changin something that is workin good....exspecially this time of year

i remember some guys had issues with buzzcuts being serrated and not leaving great blood trails....(also check your laws some states restrict serrated blades...)

stingers get a ton of great reviews....(same as buzzcuts but plain edge....)

Personally and also just my honest opinion your not going to get a better head then the Snuffer your shooting right now. All the other Magnus BH's are good heads (minus the buzzcut, I don't like them) but with shooting that Snuffer your getting a greater cutting diameter compared to all the other Magnus BH's.

Snuffers are exceptional. My Dad uses them and I did. I just switched to the Stingers this fall to try them out.

I don't think you can go wrong with Magnus. I was looking at the Snuffer SS yesterday. I've got the Stinger 4blades and love them. Shoot what you got, use em up and try something else.

Last year was my first year using the 4 blade stingers and I took 3 deer and and elk with them. Pros: Very accurate head, never had a head fly so perfect with my field points, amazing penetration all shots were passthroughs and all but the elk buried in the ground on the other side, very tough, durable head, and if something ever does go wrong, for a fewbucksshippingyou have a brand new head as they have lifetime guarantees. Cons: I really thought the blood trails could have been better considering shot placement on the animals I took. True its only 4 animals but past experience said they should have been better.

THis winter I had a lengthy comversation with Mike (Magnus owner) and Woody (Magnus tech) and discussed my lack of blood trails. I was planning on switching to the snuffer SS or a heavier stinger, but both suggested I switch to the buzzcut instead as the chisel type serration will provide a better trail (keep in mind this serration is not the same as a knife type serration). So far one deer down and the hole and trail was a little better, only one deer but its a start. Side note, what a great, stand up company Magnus is. Not often you can speak directly to the owner of a company whenever you want.

i am no expert but from what i have seen and done. If it shoots true dont mess with it. why add a new variable to a proven equation if you know what i mean. personally i like Slick Trick magnums in the 100 gr. i was shooting muzzy 3 blades before that. for me the muzzies had some drop compared to my field points and decided to try the 4blade slick tricks because of every review i read about the near perfect flight, just because i didnt want to have to sight my bow differently just for broadheads. IMHO that is a viable reason to switch. but if you are happy with the way the snuffers shoot why try and fix something that isnt broken.

and as far as purple was saying every deer bleeds differently my buddy shot a button buck(mistook it for a yearling doe) last year thru the heart on a quartering away shot that imbedded the broadhead(NAP Nitron 100 i believe) into the oposing sholder blade that deer didnt bleed one drop until it droped 15 yards away and left a huge pool of blood under the deer. but at the same time he shot a deer the year before with the same set up and similar shot and that one left a river of a blood trail. who knows what can happen after that arrow connects with its target.

again just my oppinion and what works for me may be horrible for you. or the next guy

Well thanks for the advice fellas. and let me tell you I did a bit of a test and ruined a few broadheads. my Rig is an 08Martin Cheetah, maxed out at 75lbs it suposed to go to 70 but we put it on the scale and it maxes at 75, So I got an MPro Cam in it, and my arrow is a 60/75 carbon express rebel hunter, 28 inches long, with magnus snuffer 125 gr 3 blade heads, and Blazer vanes. So my total arrow weight is 407gr. I do not have an arrow speed, but the cheetahs Bow Index is 320fps. anyhow, at 30 yards I sent an arrow cleanly threw a gander mountain layared foam target a 1 inch thick pin board, and almost all the way threw the other side of the other layed form gander target. So I know there is no substitue for Good shooting, but after i did that text I have grained a lot of faith in my rig and arrow combo.
