Default Doe No. 3 recovered in GMMAT-ville

I posted on the Blackbelly sheep thread that I had some unfinished business yet to take care of tonight. Well.....at 12:22AM I recovered doe no. 3 for the season.

I had a doe and fawn come in at 6:00.....and either mom caught my scent......or she didn't like the scent the sheep left behind....because she got antsy.....blew and bolted. I don't think it was me, either.....based on how the other deer reacted.

At about 6:45.....I saw more deer. A parade of does was headed my way. I picke dou the biggest one and waited. They all got a little squirrely over something.....but there were 5 of them. The 2 fawns were first.....followed by the one I took.....then two yearlings (best I could tell). The doe was at about 10-12yds. when I shot her.

She wheeled around really quickly and bolted. I couldn't find my arrow in my binos.....and since I didn't hear her crash.....I waited. I waited 30 minutes......got down....and searched the POI for my arrow. Nothing. I kept looking and couldn't find blood, either. Then.....a drop of blood. Then more.......then a small trail appeared. At 10 yds. I found my arrow.....stuck it in the ground.....left my stand attached to the tree.....and backed out. I did find my arrow.....and it was soaked. I felt a lot better....but still I'd heard no crash. So...like I said....I backed out.

Lisa and I went out for a drink and some dinner......and I got on her trail. I shined the light ahead.....down the old logging road.....and I saw a white belly and some glowing eyes. Do deer's dead eyes glow? I dunno.....but whatever was with her was gonna eat her.....lol.

I walked it off at 64 yds.....and the recovery was simple after that.

I'm glad I waited....even though she was dead in seconds, probably. She's STILL dead.

Doe No. 3 down, here.....and she'll be on ice in about 30 minutes.

Here she is......

And here's another satisfied rage customer....with another awesome entry wound.

Congrats, GMMAT. Sounds like you had a fun evening too!
Edit -
I posted before I saw your picture. I really need to get a better camera!
