Default Next Weeks Hunt!!

Well fellas, I'm headin out next week Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for my much anticipated draw hunt here in Oklahoma. It's traditional archery equipment only. I've been practicing religiously with my recurve over the last few months. I'm drilling 'em in there out to 25 yards. This will be the second time I've drawn this hunt and let me tell you, there are some real monsters roaming this place. Check out the website. http://www.mcaapcontrolledhunts.com/ and take a look at the "Most Wanted"list. These deer are still on the place, the phantom fourteen hasn't been photographed, but a couple of the biologists have seen him.

These aren't pen raised deer in some high fence setting. These are wild free rangingdeer here in Oklahoma. It's pretty amazing what real potential is out there when you manage the property. They don't let any rifle hunting, muzzleloader hunting, or compound bow hunting on the property. You have to put in for the draw and be selected to participate. Every year several Pope & Young bucks are taken during this hunt, hopefully this year will be my turn.

I drew Boggy this time. Last time I drew in Hominy. It was tough hunting with hot, windy, and dry conditions which made for very little deer movement. I was hunting with a self made longbow and on the first morning I had a 15 yard shot at a real bruiser, but the arrow hit a limb and deflected over his back. I've still got that longbow, but I feel much more accurate with the recurve I've been shooting. I feel really confident that if I get another opportunity like last time, I'll close the deal.

OKbowhunter20, have you ever hunted there?

Oh, and you can be sure that the man laws will be followed when I get back!
