Default Cant wait until the leaves begin to fall!

I sat in one of my stands this evening and saw two bucks and 5 doe but since everything is still green and on the trees I didnt have a shot at either! Two times tonight I could have been butchering some meat if it were not for the dense foliage. All were in the 20-30 yrd range but never had a shot at anything but some heads and butts.

I remember the same area last winter when I picked this particular tree and it has a 360 degree lane for 50 yrds. It is kind of wierd to have the adrenaline flowing like I did for a couple hours of waiting for a shot.

Anyway...in my area its all still thick and green, but acorns falling like rain. Anyone up north already having leaves changing and falling?

There's a few falling around campus here too. Not many, but with the hurricane style winds we had all day, there are probably a few more on the ground

Ever consider triming shooting lanes? I would think you are still a good 3 weeks from the leafs comeing off.

They are falling like rain here in Minnesota. But I know where you are coming from, all of my stands have to have the deer right on top of you before you see them.

This stand is in the corner of a field and a food plot, and yesI have cleared more than one lane to shoot from, one from a trail coming into the field, and one large lane in the woodline. These deer just hung out in all of the places that never offered me a shot. Just plainly too many leaves still on the trees. If this was a month later I would have the nice 8 pointer hanging up by a rope tonight.
