Default General rule of thumb....?

The general rule of thumb is hunt hill tops and other high grounds in the morning.. and hunt down low in the afternoons right....?
If I have this correct then it is because in the morning they are headed back to their bedding areas and in the afternoon they are heading down to their feeding areas..

Is this correct or do i have it backwards...

I have never heard that actually...it makes sense for certain areas. I think it depends on your setup.

fingerz---another reason they say to hunt high in the morning is because the thermals begin to rise as the sun comes out. By hunting high, you avoid spooking deer due to your scent rising from the bottoms. Hunting low at night is preferred as the earth cools and pushes the thermals ( along with your scent) back down the hillsides....hence it is better to hunt lower as the day begins to cool.

Well said.

Thermals are exactly what? I have known that at night the wind will go downhill and in the morning it will go uphill. Is that what thermals are?

All depends on air current AND air temps. While your premise is correct....air temps will control thermals.....no matter what time of day.
