Default Too soon or too late?

I found a white oak grove with 20 mature trees or so. There were no acorns on the ground whatsoever. I also sat for a good 3 hours and not a single one fell. I don't know if it was because there was no wind to shake the acorns free or if it's because they're already done dropping. The red oakswere only dropping one or two every 10min or sobut there was plenty of those acorns on the ground. It's only theend of September, do you think the white oak party's over or just about to start?

tried but my eyes aren't what they used to be. Even in perfect broad daylight I can't look up into the trees and see acorns.
