What I like and what my success shows is two different things.
I've been more successful in the evenings but I enjoy morning hunts more.
The last 10 bucks I've taken, 8 have been evening hunts however,
The reason I love mornings is the anticipation, hearing, watching the woods awaken and come alive. As the first light starts to wonder in, my anticipation grows with each ray. Conversely, in the evening there is that magic hour but as light fades, so does one's hopes. I also hate walking out after light but don't mind walking in before light. Walking out is a feeling of "failure" while walking in the anticipation of success is high.
I will take the AM over the PM anytime. Its way cooler and the deer seem more at ease. For some reason in SE PA where I do most of my Bowhunting 8am is the Witching hour for me. I shot more deer at this time or very close to it its not even close!
I like the AM hunts. I have taken all but 1 of the deer I have harvested in the morning, plus like Rob said watching the woods come alive is great and feeling the sun warm you up.

I like AM hunts better, especially in the midwest where I think you have a better chance of catching a big buck still on his feet rather than hoping he shows early enough for shooting light.
I however don't like GETTING UP for AM hunts.
Probably the majority of us have more success in the evening because it's more convenient for work schedules and evening hunting spots are generally easier to pinpoint therefore we actually hunt more in the evening.
Also evening hunts give you a defined quitting time........AM hunts you could just as easily screw up by climbing down 5 minutes too early and never know it.
I know I've killed more bucks in the evening because of slipping out of work early etc but I also know I've seen my biggest bucks in the AM.

I agree Matt, the evening success I have is because I hunt more evenings by 10 fold however,
P&Y statistics show that evenings are more successful as well but I wonder if it's not due to the same time restraints for all hunters.

I couldnt have put it any better!! My other complaint of evening hunts is for those who work in the mornings! If all goes well then your in for aLONG night, and if things go for the worse your in for a REAL LONG night!!!!
Also unlike most others, most of my kills are in the AM, I am sitting here and cant remember the last deer I killed in an evening hunt?? Then again, when I hunt evenings I am alot more pickier so to say??
