well lastnite i got out about 3:30 and moved my groundblind under a apple tree and this tree is loaded with apples. At About 6:30 a 140 class 9pt poked his sead out of the prickly ash that he was bedding in and at this point im at killing myself looking at this great buck. and i ccant shoot because i dont have a tag!! he ate apples under the tree giving me many open shots at his vitals!! this always seems to happen to me!! i gota get a doe on the ground asap!! hes got about 18in. spread and great mass!! to bad i coudnt arrow him
so im guessing you hunt earn-a-buck. i will give you a little advice, this year i looked up the crop damage farmers that get them. and i went to one of there houses and i went and shot a doe so i didnt have to worry about a doe for the actual bow season try it next year just go to a farmers house and ask them they cant say no if you ask for a crop damage tag. but that is if you live in wisconsin i dont know the rules of the other states.

Man What a bummer! I always shoot my does in late season with the bow then I am good for next year. Right now I have 2 EAB stickers and I itching to use one!
Good luck on getting a doe!

I think these states with earn-a-buck should give you an opt out so cases like that don't present themselves. i.e., you can shoot that buck without a doe tag filled first, but you need to volunter 50 hours of our time to helping the DNR on habitat restoration projects, or checking boats at landings for exotic hitchikers in the Summer, etc.No fees or financial penalties cause that would just allowpeople with more money to buy the chance. Volunteering so much of your time would makethat buck really special, but if he was, at least you could take him. And the DNR would get some free help.

I've never heard of that before, or seen it in the reg book either.
And also Huntinman: Explain to me the deal you were describing with farmers and the ag-tags. This is very intriguing

Man that sucks. two years ago I missed a doe on opening day and didn't think much of it. Well that is until I had to pass on not one but two different bucks that season. That really hurt. But like one of the other guys said, just ask some farmers if you can kill a doe. Most won't let you near their bucks but don't care how many doe you kill.
Ok, so basically how I took your post is that you live in an EAB state, don't have a doe down yet, or a tag for that matter. Yet you're still out hunting?
