Default Bow Journal Fodder

Here's the breakdown of my last 3 yrs' journals.

Anything stick out? (Other than I hunt a large herd?)

Through 11 hunts:

'06
- 80 deer sighted (30 in one sitting....the 11th hunt of that year)
- 75 does
- 5 bucks (3.5yr old, 1.5 yr old and BB's)
- 1 deer harvested

'07 (started breaking out fawn sightings, in '07)
- 32 deer sightings
- 19 does
- 2 bucks (both 1.5yr olds)
- 11 fawns

'08
- 28 deer sightings
- 14 does
- 1 buck (1.5 yr old)
- 12 fawns

I've never taken a buck before 9/30 (9/30/06 - 2.5 yr old taken here)...and I've taken them as late as 12/9 (12/9/06 - 3.5yr old 8 pointer, taken here). Other bucks were taken: 10/18/07 (Injured 1.5 yr old, taken here); 11/6/07 (4.5 yr old 8-pointer, here);11/25 (2.5yr old taken on the eastern side of NC).

Sightings have been pretty consistent....if you take out that 11th day in '06....where I saw 30 in one sit.

Anything else stand out.....other than the fact that I see a LOT of does?!

Brett:

I'm realizing that this is the "curse" of having too many does. I now have places I can "try" to get away from them. I'll hunt them for a while.....then leave them alone. Around mid-Oct......it'll be rare for me to shoot one. it'll need to be EARLY in an afternoon hunt...and a slam-dunk opportunity.

Bucks (I'm learning) are smarter than to hang out with these gals. Too visible.

Looks like your bucks don't make it past the second year.

I saw a few 2.5's in '06......and about fourteen 1.5 yr olds in that season. I saw exactly ZERO 2.5's last year. Not one.

I saw two 3.5's in '06. I shot one of them*.

I saw zero 3.5's in '07.

I saw ONE 4.5 in '07 (*He was the other 3.5 from '06....and I killed him, too).

They're (the young bucks...from year to year) going "somewhere". I need to find them.

I've seen two, 2.5 year olds and one 3.5 year old in the last two hunting seasons.

Ithink they are all moving west, some place near where near GregH hunts.
