Default Sorry Rob.....Doe down in NC

Looks like you were a couple days late and a woodlot short. I went into a new area, tonight.....mainly just to scout and see what I could see. I've never hunted there.....so I looked at the topo......found what looked to be a good travel route.....and went in.

I found a gulch that had several trails converging...and with a NNE wind....I knew this spot wouldn't disturb too much. It was on the low SW side of the woodlot. I got in the gulch, because I could see forever up each ridge. I thought I'd see them moving ....even if they weren't in range. Scouting from stand.

I got set up at 4:30. At 5:20 a doe appeared from directly in front of me. She started to feed away from me.....but turned and came back my way. She was almost diretly below me....and then started to walk away. She stayed up-wind the entire time....and was 8 yds quartering away when I shot her.

Here's my stand site.

In front of me...

One more of the boys from this weekend.......I had a great time, guys.

Congratulations on the nice doe! It looks like you hit her with a musket ball! What type of broadheads do you use?

Nice doe Jeff, and even better shot.

What kind of release did you elect to use this year? I know you were debating on what you were going to use but never saw you say either way.

I also meant to add that they don't go far when hit there.

Once again, congratulations.
