If possible, set the blind up and leave it for a week or so before you hunt it. It gives the game a chance to get used to it in the environment. That is not a bad weight, but it makes a big difference if you are going far with it. Deer can be skiddish around a new blind. Turkeys, on the other hand, don't seem to give two hoots aboud the blind. They walk right up to it.

Or on the other hand, Your gonna be bowhunting, Go set it up the day of, or evening before the hunt. Brush it n really well. use the surrounding foalige to blend it in. Check out jmbuckhunters thread "BDD" look at how he set his up and youll get the idea. That way if deer want to be skittish, so be it, by the time the see it youll done have them on the trail of death.

Also something to think about is brushing the blind in. Cover it up well with brush from the area, leave shooting lanes outside your windows. Deer will be much more comfortable with it if it "blends in".

As I said, if possible. I know a lot of people don't hunt their own land or can't trust "the neighbors". Brushing it in is a great idea.

ya brushing it in is a great idea. it has a odd shape not square but more like a stop sign shape and it has the left cuts i think it will hide well with a little brushing in

I think I have the same one as you do. By the time I load that thing on my back with my big fanny pack and carrying my bow, it's not as over bearing as I thought it would be. It surely isn't comfortable, but it's not like hauling a full Army issued back pack with 75 pounds of gear.

Best to know where you're going and get it off quickly as oppose to scouting with it. You will deffinitly want to open it up and let it sit open (preferably outside in your back yard since your hunting public land) to air out the newness of it.

I don't like to leave mine out. What I do is set up a natural blind around the pop up blind just to break things up. Then I pack up my blind and leave. When I want to hunt the area, I just bring it in and set it up.
