Default Middle TN= Out of Gas

Well, we're out of gas here in Middle Tennessee. That's right, no gas at the pump. Gas stations have white bags on all the pumps and no one knows when we're going to get more. The pipeline that feeds Tennessee, the Continental Pipeline (I think is what it's called), was damaged during Hurricane Ike. They've got it back up and running, but with a huge break in the supply line, there's no telling when we will be replenished.

I'm not going to complain too much about the gas shortage because the folks down in Texas have endured much worse. But the thing that's pissin me off is the all liberals cruising around in their hatchbacks and their Prius and other battery powered cars with these smart a** smirks on their faces. Liberals are one thing, but the thing that is at the front of my mind and my main concern is the bow season opener. Bow season opens next weekend and if we don't get more gas by the end of this week, I'm gonna be sitting in the backyard shooting my block instead of sitting in my tree stand [].

If we don't get gas by next Friday, my options are as follows:

1 - Pack a backpack, grab my bow, and start walking to West Tennessee. I could be there by Friday night if I start walking now.

2 - I could stay home, walk down to Shelby Park and set up at first light (before the joggers and cyclists get there) and take a crack at one of the park does. Only risk is that she'll bleed out in a neighbor's yard.

3 - I could hijack a liberal's Prius and make him drive me to West Tennessee.

I'm leaning towars #3 .

I will be out of town this week. I have a ride to the airport to conserve my 1/8th tank of gas. Hopefully this will all be resolved by the time I get back.

Mods - I'm fine if you move this. I'm just nervous about if I'm gonna be able to make opening day or not.

Things aren't too much better here in West Tn. I'm in Weakley county and had to visit several gas stations before I found one that had regular unleaded fuel.

You just have to fill up whenever you see a free pump, because you don't know where you can fill it up again. The whole situation is causing a huge strain on the few stations that still have gas.

** I just checked the news, they said that only two out of 13 gas stations they polled had any gas at all and one of them was almost out. They expect to be refilled monday or tuesday, but how long they will remain full is anyone's guess. You and me both may be hitchhiking to our stands opening day. Bad thing is, even if you own and live on your own land, you still have to take the deer to a check station.*

I'm in NE TN and we have gas. Some places still only have diesel and the higher octane, but just about everyone has gas though. Odd.

In the Charlotte area you have to search to find gas, the same day a station gets gas they run out, then there are the stations selling for more then others.

Got friends or family close enough to bring you some? How about a mountain bike or horse?

Well sounds like some others are having some of the same problems. I'd call family to come get me, but they all live in W TN and there's no way they'd drive all the way to Nashville to pick me up and drive me back home on Sunday.

I didn't even think about having to drive to the check station. I guess I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it - if I got enough gas to get there.

Bad for you. Gas here jumped nearly 50cents a gallon when IKE hit land. Got to $6 a gallon. We still have gas but are paying thru the nose like usual. It6s gone down now but still 5.50 a gallon. Glad your OK is all.
