[align=left]alright i hunt with a friend on his land. just me and him on about 200 acres of land. let me add that he is a great friend during the off season. but every time we go hunting if he knows for a fact that a stand will be better he will hunt it and tell me to hunt some stand that i know will be bad that night due to the wind or location of food source. also i have never shot a buck ever only does. (he has shot 7) and one night we hunted together to see if we could get some film of some deer. and he told me straight out "if we see a buck and it is nice i am shooting it. you can shoot a small one if we see it" good news is we only saw 4 does that night but from all of this is it really worth hunting with him on private land and not see very many deer? would you just hunt public land in hopes of seeing one deer during the season... or am i just getting worked up over nothing? thanks guys and sorry about the complaining just needed to tell someone after yesterday. (hunting in his cousins land which is 30 acres he hunted the good stand saw 6 deer, i hunted the other stand in this piece of woods i saw two squirrels)

Yeah, see if he will let you look for some different stand sites. There really isn't much you can do, it is his land, you might have to venture off else where if he is wanting all the good stand site's....Good luck with it!!!

well see it is not my land and every time i go he has to go so if i found a good spot for a stand i would put one up and he would hunt it. also there is already about 15 stands (gun and bow) and like i said he always hunts the better stand for that wind that night. i mean yeah there are more than one stand for the wind that night but he always hunts the one that he knows he will see deer in and throws me in a stand that i might see deer in

Bro on 200 acres do some leg work there are more than 1 good stand site. Find a couple for each wind and keep'em to yourself.
+1, unless it's limited access, like his family's land, I'd put some legwork in and find a couple better spots rather than go where he tells me. Especially if the wind ain't right or a spot has routinely NOT PRODUCED!!! Or better yet, STAY on the ground and do a little still-hunting/stalking. You don't have to be in a stand to kill deer, trust me, I've killed as many from the ground as I have from stands!!!!
Hey... his land, he take first choice.. My land, I'm taking first choice. No hard feelings. I agree with the folks who replied already. Sounds like you need to understand the deer and land better. I was in a situation for years where I would hunt a second rate area on land that was not mine. After a couple years of not doing well, I started to explore and found 3 great areas....now. my buddy wants to hunt one of those areas fine.. then I get to hunt his lucky spot that day. It's fair and fun to find a good spot. 200 is a large piece of land if it is wooded and in archery season. Heck 50 is good for a couple hunters with a bow.
Unfortunately, things such as in businessare dictated by the Golden Rule. Not the Golden Rule you learned growing up, but the one that applies to business that goes like this "He who has the gold(in this case land) makes the rules."
However, this is not business, but a supposed friendship.
I own land that I have 100% control over along with another farm that belongs to a non-hunting friend who gives me complete control of the hunting on it.
I can tell you that I have a few friends that I invite on a regular basis to hunt with me. Before every hunt (AM or PM), we flip a coin and the winner gets first pick of what stand he wants. Of course I don't invite them every weekend, but when I do we are on equal ground.
Only you can decide whether it is worth it or not, but reading your post leads me to think you've had enough. Looks to me like you've got three choices.
1# just keep doing what you are doing and letting him dictate evey move and pick the best spots for himself.
2# Don't burn a bridge just yet, but quit hunting with him so much and go hunt some public land and compare. Then decide what you want to do long term.
3#Make up your mind right now that you are going to stick with theprincipal of a more equitable situation andconfront the issue with him realizing that he may not invite you anymore. Just make sure you are okay with that possible outcome before running your mouth in the heat of the moment. At the least, you will find out what kind of friend he really is.
Buy a buch of stands and say that you will put them up on his land if you'll be able to hunt a stand that is good for the wind on a given day. Sounds to me like he's into horn porn. A freind of mine has taken 3 bucks on opening day in the last 3 yrs. I just started hunting with him and he has put me a good stand or 2. Some guys are just like that. SOme aren't. In the end you may have to bid him farewell as hunting companions......... thats your call. Not mine.
