I don't know who else Got "IKE'D"
But in NE Ohio we got hit hard by the remains of Hurrican Ike last Sunday 70+ MPH winds. Hardly a drop of rain but relentless wind for hours! Many folks still without power. It was the biggest Ohio Power outage EVER.
Anyway I walked inthe big woods today, wow, unbelievable ~trees upon trees, Treetops and of coursesticks & leaves.
I was in there a week ago, today it was as if it was a new land!
Plenty of browse now! and the # scrapes that popped up in that short period of time is equally unreal!
Deer will certainly be taking detours from the normal travel routes!
Yeah, my family is still without power too, our house and all is fine with the exception of the power. I will be back in the states next Friday and spend the following week in the woods, I am sure where I hunt will be fine though, there is only small cedars there...

Bob,
I just got power back today, not really out, I have a standby generator I installed after being out of power every couple weeks the first year in my house, and it payed for itself this past week, keeping the wife and kids happy, saving everything I may have lost in my freezers, etc. Well, maybe didn't quite "PAY for itself," but it sure is peace of mind, and being able to have a hot shower when all my neighbors are taking cold ones stands for something. I haven't yet been in the woods, to even see. But I know I got a little damage, but nothing great that I can see from the yard.
I'm in NE Ohio too. We were without power for 2 days and without phone for 1. Fortunately we have the generator to power the well pump (mostly for the poultry and other animals on the farm) and keep the deep freeze going which is always stocked full offruits, vegetables and chickenby the end of the summer growing season.
I haven't been to the woods yet (will go out this weekend to check the trail cam), but we really didn't lose too many limbs around the yard. The only big things that came down were a couple of aspens that were already weakend by the big ice storm this past March. Oh and a couple of those pesky electric poles down the road. [&:]
Oh yeah we got slammed hard. I'm in Cincinnati, not far from you and we had winds as high as 83mph. I've been in the woods the last couple of days and it's like i have to start all over again. The deer are not showing up at my feeder anymore and my shooting lanes are destroyed. I sure hope things go back to normal.
