I ran out of venison 2 months ago and typically I shoot the first deer I see (buck or doe) to fill the freezer. After that I'm typically hunting bucks. This past Saturday was opening day for Bow in North Carolina. I went out for the last two hours of daylight (very hot!) and saw nothing. I got in my stand at 6pm tonight and saw a small doe but decided to pass. She was 15 yards broadside for about 3 minutes and had no idea it was there. I just enjoyed observering her and let her walk. I have that similar feeling of success even though I didn't harvest her. I also saw a family of 5 raccoons.
How many deer have you passed on so far - how long has your season been open?
i passed on a doe last night. wasn't as much a pass as just a risky shot - 30 yards quartering slightly towards me. i thought my odds would be better waiting for a better shot. didn't happen.
I haven't passed any yet since the season hasn't started yet around here but I usually Take a few does in the first week or two that way when Rut comes around the bucks have to stay on there feet longer looking around for some hot does.

4 bucks, I have had a chance at 2 does but things just didn't come together. Bucks were dinks...... too small to shoot
