Default Bringing back the meat , by plane .

Not sure if this is the right place to ask , but has anybody ever brought any meat back from a hunt overseas . If so , how did you do it and what costs were involved . I'm curious , because i would like to bring some Elk steak and other cuts back if possible from my Colorado hunt ( if i get one ) . Remembering i live in England ( 8 1/2 hour flight ) .

If your in colorado you can have the meat preserved..but also you can have it shipped overnight and packed with dry ice...I went from pennsylvania to florida with deer meat for my uncle and the dry ice worked for the 17.5 hour drive.

Flying within the country is no problem, freeze it and check the cooler as extra luggage....but going overseas is a whole nother ordeal. I have no idea. Federal regulations and such...Im pretty sure it is illegal to bring ANY food back with you from other countries into the USA...not sure on laws regarding leaving the USA with food or entering the UK with food.

If I were you I'd shoot some emails to the proper authorities both in the UK and USA to check legality.

Hmmm...

Dave, I know I was not allowed to bring meat from the UK into the US. It was no problem from Canada into the US ( our borders touch). I really doubt you'll be able to do it. Bring a big appetit!

See you Thursday night!

Best bet is to check with Customs and your airlines..never had that issue...good luck and keep us posted on what you find out.

Good luck on your hunt, and worse case scenario if you can't take it home, feel free to arrange it to be shipped to me.
