I read somewhere that most accomplished deer hunters are also accomplished readers. I know I have read countless articles, books, journals, etc. about every single aspect of hunting- I think we all have.
But how many of us write? I write for an online magazine so I guess you could say that it comes natural to me, and I am sure many of you jot down notes, keep a journal or something to help you recollect and remember your hunts.
But it's amazing how many connections can be made when you put your thoughts down on paper. Sure, your opening day setup may work out in your head, but write down possilbe scenarios, describe it to someone, tell you or a friend what you expect.
Maybe it's just me cause like I said I write all the time for the magazine and the blog my brother and I have in my sig. But I strongly believe that we're better hunters by writing what we do and try to accomplish cause like I said you can make connections, or you may find flaws in your setup, management plan, shooting technique, anything- I know this has happened to me quite a bit.
So if you want to be a better hunter.. WRITE... then READ what you wrote. Any thoughts on this. I'm jjust rambling.
You know, I got on this site earlier this year and started hearing of everyone having a journal. I never have had one or kept up with one but after really thinking about it, I can see the positives in it. In fact this year will be my first year to keep a hand written journal.....I will let you know next year if it helps or not...

Definitely seems like a great idea. Not only will it help you work out situations for upcoming seasons, but it will help you reflect back to past seasons which will also make you a better hunter in the long run.
