It's a state with conflicting numbers. You can kill over 300 deer in a season but the total harvest numbers are around 150,000. A good 100,000 behind Ohio and we can take about 6 total.

I've seen some monsters from the southern part of the state.

read an article about it a while back.

It stated about long rifle seasons...during the rut, I believe, therefore less bucks make it to maturity.

There's no doubt IN has great soils and is a big buck state, just poorly managed is what it comes down to, so mentioned the article, but I had always wondered about that myself. It's centered in between buck states so it should.

I think the article came after a recent change to their law there....somethingto hopefully improve the state.

Personally it sounds like Iowa has one of the best management programs for producing big bucks.

funny thing is i live in Sullivan i hunt public land a fish and wildlife area. There were only 23 bow hunters opening day. and 300 gun hunters opening day. On 8000 acres.
I saw a 11 point buck i would give anything to shoot. But i am lucky this area is the main hunting area for the south and central area of Indiana

yes you can kill over 300 in you hutn every county. must do not do that for my county the limit is 2 with bow one doe and onebuck or two does. one buck with gun if not taken with bow. A doe or buck with muzzleloader.
Then you get 3 bonus tags. so 7 if you take you buck with a shotgun. you get one buck a year.
