Default new hunting toy and money pit.

Last July i bought a 1990 ford 4x4. Good truck but the windshield is cracked bad in two places.
Plus do to a mechanic that did not know his a** from a hole in the ground. I had a slave cycler which runs the clutch. and The cruise control would not work. The speedo would bounce anywhere from 15 to 20 milesand it was off 10 when it would set and not move.
Also he did something to the cable and the 4x4 would not want to go back to 4x2.
The back tires were almost gone.
And it had alot of rust in it.

I traded a guy for a 1985 Chevy. that has a lift that sets the bed side at 6 feet high. The body is almost rust free just alittle on one wheelwell and on the door handles. It was made into a off road truck.
It has a 1/2ton body in great shape. It sits on a 3/4ton frame. With 1 tonaxles.

The tire are about 50% there. It has a few issues but not much someone tried to hot wire the thing so the steering colum needs changed.
The rear brake cycler leak. And there is a oil hose that has a small leak.
nothing major. Plus unlike the ford it is a auto not a manual.

The guy he got it off of wanted 2500 for it. they did some trading and the guy i got it from need some cash (I gave him 50 bucks for gas and 20 for a bed tool box.) And he want the ford since it was a stick and a shortbed.
I wanted a auto and a longbed.
This is by no means a everyday driver. but i got a 2007 chevy i ant driven the ford everyday anyways.
I Figure about 500 bucks to fix everything and 200 or so each for new 4x4 tires.
I figured i need 1000 for the ford to get it looking good before buying new tires.

All in all i think i made out on the guy. I do not feel bad he asked me to trade and i told him everything that was wrong with the ford.

Thinking of camo painting it since it will be a off road/hunting truck.
Funny thing is the ford was a mess between hauling trash from remodeling my house and not cleaning it out for 6 months it looked like a twister hit it. If he would have waited a week it would have been spotless ready for hunting season. Though the chevy has mud all over it and looks like the guy used it for a dumb. He left some stuff in the tool box and said when you clean it out leave everything in the bed and i will come over in a few days and see if i want any of it.
By noon tomorrow the stuff will be in the Dumpster.

Sounds like a cool project. I just paid off my jeep cherokee and am about ready to put the wrenches to it. I'm thinking lift, new tires and perhaps camo paint. I'm going to buy a new truck for my daily driver so I figure I may as well GI Joe my Jeep.

ya already thinking about what to do Funny thing is the other day i was talking to my dad and said i would like to fix the ford up maybe lift it. and get some good tires. He said buy one someones already done all the work to and get it cheaper then you could make one. I figure the chevy is worth 1000 more then the ford. and when i get done with it it will be worth alot more.
