Default just bought a thermacell

Well last night my mom talked me into going to bingo with her.
Good thing I won 160 bucks. i won 3 of the first 6 games. 40 bucks each. plus i won some on tip boards.
Before the night was over i had figured out what i would spend it on
I ordered a thermacell.
What is the best way to use them.
Should i turn it on when walking in. I heard they need to heat up before they start working.
Also do you guys use them when it is windy. at what speed does it not work.
Also where do you set them when in the stand.
Any other tips would be great.

I dont start mine until after I am in my stand, but it is the first thing I do when I get into my stand. I just find a ctatch in the tree, and wedge it in there. I dont know about the wind, but I would rather use it , and do what I can to get them buggers to leave me alone.

I start mine up 5 minutes before I get there??

Why?
a, it takes a while to warm up..and Florida is horrible with mosquitoes,

b. it makes a semi-loud clicking sound when igniting the Therma Cell

The Thermacell is a must in Florida

I turn mine on when i reach the tree just before climbing that way it has just a little time to warm up. I bow hunt out of loc-ons and once i get seated i just put it under the seat. It takes a few minutes for it to actually start working but once it does it works really well. It does put off some odor but it's not that bad and i believe if you stick to hunting the wind you'll be ok, besides, i think if they can smell the thermacell theymore than likelycan smell you to.Beats getting eaten up by mosquitoes anyday.

Apparently the smell that it releases does not affect wildlife, except for bugs.
