Default Loggy Bayou Predator?

I just received this stand in from Sportsmensguide and have a few questions.

I put the strap button and the bracket on it that goes against the tree. The instruction manual was useless. I followed the directions in the booklet and confirmed the locationfrom the pictures on the box.

I went to mount the stand to test it out just off the ground and it does not Cam into it at all....It just kind of lays loosely against the tree on the bottom. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? What are others that have this stands experience with it?

It looks awesome and it seems like if it would cam that it would be awesome but right now I am less than enamored.

I bought one last year. I too had to toss the instructions as there were less than worthless. [:@]That is inexcusable.

Anyways, no it does not cam into the tree. I was real hesitant about that, but once you step on it & put weight down, the thing doesn't move at all. It's very stable and solid. So from my experience, even though when you hang it, it doesn't look like it will be sturdy, once you are in it, its solid.

One last tip. ALWAYS keep the strap WITH the stand. That way you can never leave the strap in a different pair of pants while you are hunting 2 hrs away from home and miss a chance at a huge buck because you couldn't climb the tree you wanted.

I bought the monarch xl this year and it was difficult for me to put up the first time, but when I got it strapped in it was solid.( i am new to hang ons). I agree, the directions I had for the monarch were horrible.

I have the same stand. I also, did not like the looped strap setup. I swapped the strap for a standard ratchet strap, and swapped the strap 'button' for a 3/8" x 16tpi stainless eyebolt.

I bought a fairly long eyebolt with the intention of cutting it off later. The threads did not run the entire length of the shank, so I threaded the remaining section of shank, up untill the eyelet is formed.

Run a nut and washer all the way on the shank, and insert from the front into the stand. Secure with a washer and nut on the back, and cut off any extra portion of shank.

I used all stainless hardware and TIG welded the eyelet closed, probably didn't need to weld it, but one was handy.

Keep the eyelet flat, and hook with ratchet straps.

I use 2 straps on all my hang-ons, also.

Even though I may have voided any warranty, it works much better on an already great stand.

I think if you will set it up with the strap that came with it and after you tighten it, then lift up the base of the stand and tighten the newly created slack out of the strap. Then it will be solid especially after you but some weight on it.
