I was seriously thinking about a thumb trigger release for hunting.Any one use them or does everyone use strap releases.

I use the Tru Fire 3d Hunter thumb release. It's very adjustable and for about half the cost, shoots as well as the $160 releases. They are also completely quiet so they are great for hunting.

I bought two this year to use for hunting. I'll primarily use a Carter Just B Cuz and just leave it attached to the string while on stand. I've got a phobia about hitting the trigger and dropping it....so I bought a Tru Ball ST3 to use as a backup. I got the lanyard to go with it......and I'll probably just keep it in my saddlebag on my stand....and hope I never need it.

I use a truball ST-3. Love it, and probably will never go back to caliper release. Just do what Jeff suggested, and get a cord for it, so you don't drop it on stand.

If you guys want to keep your release handy but not on the bow for fear of dropping it or not on a lanyard on your wrist you can simply make a longer lanyard and wear it around your neck like a grunt tube. It doesn't interfere with drawing or shooting.
Just don't let it go when you fire the arrow.

I shoot a thumb trigger (Carter just Cuz)consistently better than I do an index release however I'm also much SLOWER with it because my body and mind doesn't know how to just controlledpunch it in the heat of battle like you do an index release.
It's also louder when the sears release.

I get torn over using it every year, and then every year I bail on it and keep using a wrist strap index release.
I shoot it good enough in any condition to keep me happy anyway.
