Shooting hay

Hi all, great forum with some great information. Stumbled on this place a month ago, and have been here at least once a day since!
I am currently stuck living in a condo, with no place to shoot longer than 25 yds. I have been sticking hay bales for years with a massie longbow, but have never tried it with a compound. This year I have purchased a pse xforce, and am wondering if anyone has any experience shooting at hay with a fast bow like this.
I would just try it, but if i get a pass through, the arrow will smash against a stone wall, and I just dont feel like destroying an arrow.
So, what it boils down to is, how many hay bales should stop this arrow?

regular hay bales alone are a terrible target. best thing to do would be to put a couple rachet straps on the bale and compress the heck out of it...get it as tight as you can....that MIGHT work....some archery clubs use bales(i think straw..pretty sure you wanna shoot straw) and i dont know how they are made but they are compressed TIGHT they work great...

Thanks, thats what i figured, that hay would be junk for a powerful bow. If i go out and buy straw bales, and ratchet straps, I might as well just buy a decent BH target at the local shop. Think I know where I'm going after work tomorrow...

I bought a block 4x4 this year and it works great, I would not trust hay.IMO

I shoot one of the Morrel bag targets outside of my apartment.......don't shoot broadheads though.

You can make a quick and effective taget out of old feed bags , newspaper, plastic and old cloths.
