Carbon or Aluminum

What are some advantages to carbonand aluminum? Is carbon better than aluminum? Aluminum arrows are cheaper and i was wondering if they shoot better or worse or what is the difference??

carbon arrows are lighter which means faster shooting...i think they are smoother through the air and they are alot stronger IMO

I would go through probably 10 dozen aluminum arrows for every dozen carbon ones.

Good carbon (you generally get what ya pay for) have very good specs and tolerances, are extremely durable and generally lighter for each spine rating than aluminum. (Although there are some heavy carbon models out there)
For hunting purposes the old addage of they are either straight or broken isn't too far off. They take a lot of abuse..........stuff that would crease or kill aluminum quite easily.

I know I could NEVER shoot aluminum arrows from my traditional bows. My God I'd be building new arrows constantly they take such a beating day after day.

Aluminum arrows are cheaper for the most part for similar specs to good carbon but IMO you will spend MORE in the long run replacing the ones you doink up practicing and hunting. You can SORT OF straighten them but you need expensive specialized equipment to have a shot at doing it correctly which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a cheaper arrow shaft in the first place. LOL

For example I've never shot a deer with an aluminum arrow that wasn't trashed for the experience.......I've shot as many as 6 deer wit hthe same carbon shaft.

You can get a stronger spine out of a lighter weight material, and you don't have to fight with trying to re-straighten them. For many of us, they are "PERFECT," but there still are some old holdovers that cling to their aluminum arrows.

carbons are much better in my opinion. faster, lighter, straighter, durable.....just the more use you get out of them is what makes up for the price, a little bit more expensive for carbons, but its worth every penny!

Aluminum arrows actually have better specs for less money, and better quality control. I have tried them all and I am an aluminum arrow shooter. I rarely ruin them and I shoot thin walled ones at that. I have never ruined an aluminum that would not have ruined a carbon. Sometimes you just have to look at the carbons closer to tell they are bad.

Go to your local shop and grab two dozen average carbons, then grab two dozen Easton game getter aluminum arrows. Put them all on an arrow spinner and see what happens. And if you want to go one step further test them for spine and see what the variations are. I will bet you unless you are looking at 90.00 a dozen carbons the aluminum's will be better.

And that straight or broken thing is a huge myth, I have seen a ton of bad carbon arrows. I tend to wear carbons out faster than I do aluminum arrows to be honest.

With carbon, I like the fact that they are either straight or broken, that is why I switched to them back when they had outserts....

what are full metal jackets? arrow brand? wat makes them special?
