as the upcoming season is just around the corner, here in wisconsin, all the bow hunters are steadily gathering all the gear, setting up stands, searching new locations and of course, the practice shoots.
i for one am one of the fellas out solidly spending my free time, doing all of the above, but i have to say that the one thing that helps the most, is the practice shoots with friends.
as harsh as it may sound, many people that shoot with thier buddies, know that the will be brutally honest in what they think of your shooting. they will tell you about your stance and your release, if you twitch a little or if your concentrating too hard, all the variables that one needs to know the truth about in order to become a great shot.
all in all, the times spent together also stands as a time to get to know each other, the different ways each person does things, and you get the chance to hang out and possibly join in a hunt or two with the person. as i have noticed, being married and having two small children, it is also a GREAT way to "get away" for awhile, and get stupid with the boys.
i think that this is one of the best things a bow hunter, gun hunter, basically any sort of sportsman at all, can get the best of all worlds, and still gain knowledge while having alot of fun, its just another really good BOW FIXATION

I always like shooting with people, another set of eyes watching gives a little pressure to make a good shot. I tend to rush things when I shoot alone.

I can shoot with friends and not do as well, they can give advice and it doesn't help till I am alone and then I think back to their words and I concentrate and it comes together.May have a touch of ADD or whatever it is.
