Default what will become of your deer

what will you do with your deer.
i think for some it comes down to how many you get. but what do you plan to do with the meat.

I thought if i got more then 2 i would do one into summer sausage or maybe alot of jerky.
If i do alot of jerky how should i store it.

also how many do you plan to kill

I make bologna out of my entire deer and spread the wealth around. I hand out bologna to alot of people including keeping my landowner stocked with it. He and his wife love it.

Last year I took an entire doe and buck to the butcher minus the backstraps and filets for some grilling of my own. I process my own deer and take the boneless cleaned meat to a local butcher for bologna.

This year, I "plan" on a buck in PA, and perhaps 2 maybe 3 doe in various management units. I also "hope" for a buck in IL and if I'm fortunate enough, then a doe in IL.

My daughter and I will kill 10-12. My family eats most of it as burger. I will usually make 20-30 lbs of brats anda littlejerky. Mostly burger though - taco's, spaghetti, burgers, shepherd's pie, meatloaf, lasagna. Beef burger seems so fatty now.

god i am hungry now. I want to be eating deer only in a few short years.
I hate buying meat from the stores if it was not for getting good meat from sams club not sure what i would do.
I still remeber the first time i cooked deer meat. me and my dad took all day cooking two 5 pound roast then spent an hour pulling them and made the best bbq i have eat to date.
i plan to relive that day when i get my first deer.

Theoretically I'll have 9 tags. A great year would be filling 6, but as long as I can get 4 I'll be happy. Burger, steaks, roasts, backstraps. Donate one to HSH, and depending if my Dad gets a deer, givea lot ot my family.
I try to make lots of jerky too, but finding time is the hard part.

I'll eat 4-5 with a little help from the kids...
With the rest I've got folks lined up that I've taken deer to for years...

I'll kill between 8-10...

I get 2 deer a year and I get sticks, jerky and bologna. Alot goes to my landowner (thats all he wants so who am I to say no) and the rest goes in the belly.
