Default New bow string

I just inherited a bow from my brother. After shooting it alot the string started to fray. I need a new one obviously. I measured the string and it is 34 in. However on the bow it says 35 in. Dacron which do I get and from where or who? Also I have a peep sight can I do this myself. I do have a cable that be brother says is used like a bow vise to take the tension off he will show me how to use this. But the question is do I have to be exact with the placement of the peep or just come close and then adjust the pins? Thanks in advance.
