Default 3d shooting with a hunting setup

I have thought about doing some 3d shoots since i got my bow. When i got it the guy at the pro shop said i was shooting better then most the guys who won the compts. I never did.
Would it be ok to use a hunting setup for 3d when you start out or should i wait untill i can get a bow setup for target shooting

Yes you can use your hunting bow for 3D shoots. There are several different classes, the equipment you are usingdetermines which class you shoot. Hunting type equipment would have you shooting in the ASA MBR class, which limits you to fixed pins sights, 12 inch max stabilizer, and 280fps. I don't shoot a lot of IBO, so maybe someone else can pipe in and let you know IBO regs. 3D shoots are a great way to stay in touch with your equipment in the off-season to ensure you are as sharp as possible come killing time.

Actually 12" stabilizer and fixed pins qualifies you for "Hunter" or if you want "Unlimited" classes in the ASA. Hunter is 40 yards max, Unlimited is 50.
(Unlimited allows the use of longer stabilizers but you CAn shoot the short stuff if you want)

In the IBO the 12" stabilizer and fixed pins qualifies you for "Hunter" as long as you have 4" fletching and screw in points.
"MBR" is an IBO class and a hunter class set up is again legal in this class but you can also use longer stabilizers, more pins and no arrow restrictions.
Hunter class is 35yd max and MBR is 45.
To make things even more confusing the IBO also has an "AHC" or Advanced Hunter class that shoots to 40 yards with basic Hunter class equipment.

Isn't there one with a speed cap? Or did I make that up out of the blue?
