Default 10 yard pin as 20 yard pin?????

i was at gander mountian and the guy said for me to sight in my 10 yard pin (i got my bow upgraded, etc.) and then he said he was gonna show me a trick and that i didnt need a 10 yard pin. so will an 10 yard sighted-in pin hit the same at 20 yards. i tryed this out today and found some truth to it. is it because the arrow is still on rise when its at 10 yards and arcs bak at 20??

Well it depends on how fast and flat shooting your bow is. But I think most people have a 20 yard pin and that is for all under 20 yards.

I have a 20-25-30 yard pins and the 20 yard pin works from 0-20 yards.

Start at 20 unless your bow is shooting like 200fps and everything under 20 will be as dead on as you need. Unless your like 2 yards away then use your 40 yrd pin. trust me.

For hunting, the fewer pins the better. I recommend a 20,30,40,etc. and gap shoot the rest. With a little practive its very easy.

forget a 10 pin. by the time you get your bow out to 40 or 50 yards you would have more pins than sight.20,30,40 and shoot the gaps.

Your 20 yard pin is alright to about 25 yards. Once you get past about 25 yards your arrow will start to drop drastically. At 10 yards you should be hitting about 1.5"-2" high which would make you good out to about 25. I personally use 1 pin out to 30 yards. I know that at distances betweein 30-35 I have to aim a bit high. I have a 40 yard pin that is perfect for 35-40 yard shot.

Just to cover my own ass....I have been drinking tonight!!

i agree forget the 10yd pin, 20yd is my closest.....

but checking your 20yd pin at 10yds, 5 yds, 2yds.....somethign to know....because yes you may have to aim using your differently possibly dramatically at 5 or 10yds.....

my 20 seems to be fine at 5/10yds though, but a few inches off at 5yds or 10yds due to the arrow being 3" or so lower than your sight can make the difference......on a super close shot.

Good advice saluk. Yes....your 20 yd pin should suffice for every shot from 0-20.......but it would be important to know where you hit (in relation to the spot you're trying to hit) at all those yardages. At 1-2 yds.....you'll hit low (I'm 2.5" low).
