Default Taking it to the next step

Anyone gone scouting and pretty much set yet? I finished up getting all of my gear, including upgrade to a climber tree stand and a GPS! So, this is beginning to get very serious.. The next step is to budget out my scouting at my spots. I have two spots this year, one of which I am keeping a secret (ha ha) and the other of which I will be using close by and taking my son there half the time. In the next few weeks I will be very familar with topo maps and the areas that I hunt.

This is going to be fun.

Still need to do a bit more scouting ( long range ). Just a couple spots left to check out.

We will switch over to broadheads for practicing next weekend.

Since we ground hunt and you never know what position you might be in for a shot... we practice shooting from sitting on the ground with feet in front of you, sitting on a stool, leaning around things, hunched down, kneelingor laying on your back then go into a sitting postion for a fast shot. Cover gets scarce in a few of our spots and you rarely get to stand and shoot with perfect form in mind. You will find out if you are over bowed in the first orlast shooting position. The last month before bow season finds usreally serious about practicing at unkown ranges and differentpositions.

We will start making plans for hunting different areas with the wind in mind shortly. Some areas are better huntingduringAm or Pm hunts. We make up a cheat sheet so nothing is over looked when hunting season gets here.

Still need to pick up some new camo when either Scheels or Cabelas gettheir fall orderin.

We are pretty much set with equipment otherwise. Just get everything organized a bit better.

I'm starting to scout more. Going to set up a stand hopefully tomorrow morning. I still need to setup my arrows since I don't have em yet. And I'm still waiting on my camo.
