All this blah, blah blah had me going too.
After 7 years this time, several years before that shooting ACC's, I'm once again going to shoot semi heavy aluminums.
Well out of one bow anyway. The rest will still be blessed with ACC's.
So reading several posts and being jealous on all these awesome looking arrows I decided to place an order at a local little shop.
After PM'n Rick James (Matt) we decided on an arrow. Matt spec'd a 2216 but that is no longer available in the Super Slams so we decided on 2413's.
I also ordered some 4" feathers, not barred but never the less I'm a huge fan of white and neon yellow.
As I fletched up one arrow, I had a second one retuning the bow for this arrow vs my CXL's.
Also for the first time, I bought commercial wraps and wrapped my first arrows. I'm still not sure I'm a fan of those but they do look good.
I know one thing, they sure do thump a target. They sound like a tractor/trailer slamming through plywood. Alright I might be exaggerating a little bit but they do slam the targets.
Final numbers out of the 82nd Airborne at
62lbs. The arrows weigh in
465 grains and are traveling at
280 fps.
I lost nearly
50 fps from my 3D arrows but like I said, these slam the targets at
81 ft lbs of KE.
I lost a little on pin gap, very little so it's almost insignificant to say but pin gap grew slightly. I sighted in 20, gapped my 30 and 40 and called it a night. I didn't step back to 50 yet cause I still have all the other ones to build and then tweek it all in and she'll be a perfect hunting machine.
Oh, and as quiet as my 82nd' was shooting my CXL's at 327 fps (316 grain arrow), you should hear the whisper when it goes off now with a 465 grain arrow.
Last shot on my 30 coyote target.
