Default How Would you hunt this?

Heres the scoop, I helped Put this food Plot in, and I'm looking to hunt it but the problem is, to be down wind, you cant hunt near the food plot, Theirs no trees, Its in the middle of a clear cut (4 years old approx) The one tree that I would like to hunt out of is the blue dot labled #1 the Dirt roads pictured arent used, they are gated off, its about 800 yards back to this spot from the access road (dirt) and it gets little traffic. The trails are numbered 1 to 4 based off of how frequently their used. the Plot is clover and chickory, the wind blows down the mountain, and the mountain slopes in the direction of the wind.the 3 dots I have selected are the only trees you can put a treestand in. The plot is 40 yards long and about 20 yards wide. Theirs a small creek that runs down the side of trails 1 and 4. By small I mean its about a foot wide and about an inch deep.

Edit: sorry got a little excited and posted it too soon.
EDIT EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention, theirs no trees in the plot, it looks like it on the map but those were accully just GIANT jagger bushes,
Ryan.

If that's the way the wind always blows, I would avoid all 3 of those trees. Site 1 will blow your scent directly over trail #3, trail #2 and any possible staging areas. Site 2 will blow your scent directly over the entire food plot. Site 3 would blow your scent over trail #1 and any possible staging areas. If the slope is steep enough, your scent might just blow over the trails, but that's taking quite a risk in my opinion.

Ideally, you could find a tree along trail #1 or trail #2 and setup on the downwind side of the trail. You don't need to shoot the deer in the foodplot. You just need to catch him on the way in.

If there aren't any trees on those trails, you might want to think about a ground blind on the down wind side of trail #1 or #3. Near where the trail enters the food plot would give you alot of shot opportunities no matter which trail the deer enters on.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

The problem with the ground blind and I tried it last night, They bust you faster than you would believe. and you cant levae the blind out because it will magically dissapear. So I dont know what to do really.

Ryan.

If you don't have any trees then maybe a tripod or ground blind?
How about hunting trails leading too your foodplot, as a different option?

Build your own ground blind. Use the brush and fallen branches you find in the area. If you do a good enough job, the deer and other hunters will never know it's there.

Next time you go out, take a little folding saw and clippers, cut some branches of pine trees, bushes, saplings, etc. Use these branches to build 3 walls around the base of a tree. When you come in to hunt, just bring a small stool or chair and your good to go.

The biggest thing you need to be concerned about is being downwind of the foodplot.
