Default QAD Problem?

While shooting my bow today my QAD Pro LD failed. I drew back my bow and when I released the arrow I heard a "cracking" noise. I figured it was my nock so I checked it out. No damage. I nocked another arrow and placed it in the rest. When I reached up to "flip" up the rest, it fell right back down. It wouldn't lock in place.

I am assuming the noise I heard was either a spring or gear inside of the rest. It will not stay "locked down" either. I'm going to go to the shop tomorrow and see if he will just order me a new one and trade them out since I haven't had it that long at all.(he doesn't keep LH gear in stock). Its just a real bummer b/c our season starts Aug. 15th!!!

Has anyone else had this problem?

One question.....

Is there a chance the junction where your cable that's part of your rest and your down cable came loose?

I'm just trying to think of what might cause this. I can't picture what could have happened. (Don't doubt you a bit, though) I've just never had an issue with mine....in almost 3 yrs service.

No. I'm affriad its not that simple. It appears that something inside the rest broke. When the prong is at rest it lays all the way down and touches my shelf. Before it broke it didn't do this.

Between the shop owner and QAD I'm sure the problem will be taken care of. I wouldn't hesitate to put one on your bow. I know a lot of people who use them and this is the first I've seen of a problem. The only way I would switch to another rest is if QAD doesn't replace this one because as I said, its not very old at all.

Thanks, Strut....

I was just trying to come up with anything that would make sense. Like I said....I put mine on in '05....and it's been on 3-4 bows, since. It's never given me an ounce of trouble. I'm sure they'll make it right. I'd be VERY surprised if they didn't.

Good luck

Default RE: QAD Problem?

Just got off the phone with a QAD tech. They are sending me a new rest in the mail.

However, the thing that kinda got me was his possible reason the rest failed. He stated that most of the rests that they have fail is because of the fletchings "busting" through the rest.

So, I guess this would actually confirm the rumors of the QAD not dropping quick enough for some bows.

I really don't see where that would have been a problem. I'm shooting a Tribute at 70lbs and 27.5'' smooth mods with a 440gr. arrow. My point is, I'm not shooting a speed demon. Hopefully I won't have any trouble with the new one.
