Would you ever try for one with archery tackle

Just curious if anyone has ever done it or thought about it

And they're off!I personally have no desire to shoot an elephant, but I know that there are some who do.

I passed a shot on one last season down here on the river, he was workin a HUGE scrapeline through an oak bottom....... An elephant????? Where in the world did this come from? haha, Lord have mercy. Anyways, I'm not sure if its ever been done, maybe by a crazy tribal guy over there. I just don't think it would be possible. It would probably just piss it off.

I just watched some safari show on the Outdoor Channel about a guy who has killed several bull elephants with high power. I have no interest in killing anything that is not going to be eaten (with the exception of yotes). I don't know what a trophy hunter does with the meat. If it is not used to feed people, it ain't hunting, it's just plain killing (in my humble opinion). However, until they name a combat tank "archery tackle", I would not consider going anywhere near an elephant, rhino, or hippo.

ACtually the permit to take an elephant is like 2 grand, And then 90% of the meat goes to a local village by law.

NO.

I believe howard hill was the 1st man to take an elephant with a bow, that wasn't with the use of a poison tipped arrow.

Sure some have done it since, but this seems like a ridiculous proposition to me. I think a bow/arrow would be a rather ineffective weapon to use on an elephant, the risk of losing such a trophy, and the likelihood that it would take a long time to die, just doesn't suit me.

Taking one with a .577NE double, sounds like much more of a hunt.
