Default rubs and scraps

when will the bucks start making rubs and scraps i am in sullivan indiana which is southwest indiana if it matters .
i could be wrong but ant a rub where they rub there antlers on the tree and scrap are on the ground

usually in October you should start seeing some SCRAPES and Rubs. Some deer will make SCRAPES all year long, these are social scrapes.

Sorry BigTim, gotta bust your chops a little!! You spend a lot of time on this site (3300 posts) and we're explaining rubs and scrapes to you? You just get confused between the two or something? Just checking!![8D]

Anyway, deer will begin to rub trees as they start to remove the velvet from their antler's in the late summer. This will continue on through the year, on and off, as the bucks use these rubs to 'mark their home territory' and for scent dispersal for communication.

Some will argue that bucks also use saplings as a way to strengthen neck muscles which are important when sparring/fighting for the rights to breed a doe come breeding season.

lol this is about the only site i use beside shopping and looking up info on non hunting stuff.
I was just confused as to which was which i though a rub was on a tree. but i can swear i heard someone call a rub a scrap sometime
