Default i feel kind bad i lied to the guy

OK i went to the clover field by the road i plan to hunt.
I saw the monster buck i had seen before.
There was a old man and his wife parked watching them.
I talked with him and he was speechless at how big this deer was.
I asked if he hunted. he said yes but not much any more. then he said if i knew who owned this field i would get permission and come out here for sure.

I did not tell him it was public land and the field was there for hunting.
I even agreed when he said it was hard to find a place to hunt.
He i have hiked my A** off to find my place and i have about 5 great spots.

Was i wrong to not tell him or was it something most would have done.

P.S there was signs all over the the place that say fish and wildlife area just not out by the road on the field line.

I do not like lieing to people but it was a huge deer.

In one hand...ya you lied, but do I blame you...NO, I would be pissed off if I had put in the time to track this deer, find his patterens etc, then have someone hunt there because he seen the deer one time.

I don't know the guy but who to say he wouldn't shoot it from the road one evening if he where to find out it was public ground . And what i meant when i say he might shoot it from the road is ,i'm sure he can't get around as well as he use to , or he would still be out there hunting deer .

Was just wondering if you hiked you a** off to find your place. Then why was there an old man and his wife PARKED watching that buck. How far did you hike?

I would have told the guy the land was there to hunt. Who knows maybe he would have gently pushed the deer to you on his way in to hunt. An old man...... may have been the last deer he shot.[&o]
Hunters helping hunter right. Its a deer on public land...... there are lots. If he did end up shooting the buck I would help him drag itout, shake his hand and sayNice buck. Thats just me though.

no you were not wrong. He should do research and find out for himself. He already he said he didn't hunt much any more, so screw it, what does he want to do?, cherry pick?? hell no you shouldn't have told him.
