Default i wonder if i made the right move or not.

Well as some of you might remember i had knee surgery in Jan.
They cleaned up two tears in my knee. It has been better but i still have some pain when i sit with my knees bent like driving or hunting and when i walk long distance.

I am now worried i am developing arthritis due to it all.
I went to a spot walked it out about 1.5 miles or so round trip
I noticed when i was walking my knee started to hurt.
Not like before just hurt it did not lock up or nothing. what worries me is i have been popping anti inflammatorys and wonder how bad it really is.

I am thinking about going back to the doctor but not sure i am willing to hear what he thinks and what he wants to do. It worries me it might cost me the season

Let me give you some advice from a person that has had three knee surgeries. If you continue to take anti-inflammatories, you will continue to keep having pain. Your body swells up in area to bring nutrients and things to help heal the area. If you eliminate that internal swelling all the time, you are eliminating the healing process. I am not saying let your knee swell up, but just ice it when it hurts, and occasionally use anti-inflammatories. Let the body take action.

I gave a buddy of mine the same advice I gave you above. He and I submission wrestled together and he developed some serious tendinitis in his wrists. He constantly used anti-inflammatories for years. I finally convinced him to stop the pills for 2 months and just ice afte practice. His tendinitis went away completely because his joints were finally allowed to heal.

You also need to strengthen the muscles right around your knee, especially the teardrop shape muscle on the inside quad. Your hamstrings also must be strengthened to help keep you walking upright and not leaning forward, thereby placing a large amount of stress on your knee joint and not on the muscles, where most of the pressure should be placed.

If you are overweight, losing 10-15 pounds can make an immediate impact on your pain levels.

Hope this helps.

a lot of times, doctors and surgeons will tell you that you NEED surgery, when in all reality, you dont. doctors said that i needed surgery on my shoulder this past fall, but i just gave shooting and baseball a break pretty much all winter, and its back to normal now. thats just one instance, i know a lot of friends and family that have been told that they needed surgery, but elected not to get it, and much better now.

whatever you decide to do i wish you the best.

I had the same surgery (two tears in the meniscus)in mid April08'. I was back to work mid June, 6 weeks, I work in the oilfield and am up and down stairs on drilling rigs daily. I really have had no problems, my doctor had told me that different folks heal differently but you should Be in better shape than you are describing.I would go see the doctor andjust to make sure!!!!

i do have a brace but when i walk it drops down and ends up at my foot
i thought about going to the local gym and doing some leg lifts thought that might help
