Default your opininon on full moons and deer activity.

What is your experience with full moons and sightings of deer?? mine are pretty low actually, I see very few deer on a full moon. if you have a full moon, how does this change your hunting strategy?? I would like some ideas!

I usually sleep in on morning following a full moon. If I am stand hunting, I usually get in around 10-11am and stay for the rest of the day. This would be for the pre-rut and earlier though (and post rut).

I do the same as BobCo but my sightings during the full moon are much below normal. I am not a fan of hunting during the full moon at all. I will still hunt during this period but it's definitely not a time that I look forward to.

Google:

deer hunting during a full moon

hunting moon phases

deer hunting moon phases
etc

There is a truck load of information, theories, articles. As far as personal experience I tend to see more daytime activity during a full moon but I also feel like what time that full moon is rising/setting is important as well.

I normally do not like to hunt the morning after a full moon. There is one execption to that and that is when the moon is still out after day break. If the moon is out, I am in my stand, I don't care what phase it is. These past few days have been a great example of this. The moon has been up a good two hours after light and has been back out a good 4-5 hour before dark.

I recall last season during we had a full moon during the rut. On that day we hunted the same stands we normally hunt in the morning with virtually no sightings. All three of us were back on those same stands at 11am that day. Between 11am and 1pm we had 13 sightings between us.

Not much to to it. I use that technique with a full moon when the deer are still in their normal patterns. IMO, anything goes (well pretty much anything) during the rut.

I haven't started paying attention and trying different tactics long enought to have a huge opinion, but generally I'm not a fan of full moons. I hardly see any deer, I tried the whole midday thing with no real pick up in activity. I can't control when the moon is in what phase and I only have a limited time to hunt so I just try to be in stand as much as possible, when ever I have the time.

I concur with Bob, most deer activity I have seen after a full moon is going to be mid day and will digress with the moon....I also agree that during the rut, the moon don't matter as much, the deer are liable to do anything....
