Default Velvet Whitetails

I will be hunting the ND whitetail archery opener this year for the first time and it opens Aug 29. This means that most of the bucks will most likely have velvet antlers.

If you guys shot a velvet buck...would youleave the velvet on or take it off. I personally like the look of hard antlers muchbetter than velvet so I am not sure what I would do.

Is there a certain procedure to be followed in removing velvet from antlers?

Thanks

Being as where I am from and we don't get a chance at a deer with velvet, I would opt to leave it on....

Are you kidding cooter?? Leave it on man!! Thats the way he was when you shot him.

I'd love to shoot a buck in velvet. There are some dandy bucks out there in ND. I'll be making a trip out there possibly this fall as well.

Good luck out there!!

i would have to say keep the velvet i really think it would be awesome. when bow hunting opens in wisconsin all th deer either have or are about to get rid of the velvet so it is harder to shoot one. so keep the velvet.
