Default Back from flood duty and $450 poorer...

Haven't been posting much cause I was in Southern IL on flood duty, doing levee inspections while the water was up. After spending 25 days straight down there, at least 12 hours a day, I worked pretty closely with some of the residents. Saw one giant buck in velvet and lots of deer every day. Also got to see some very impressive mounts and one set of sheds that go 200 typical. After swearing I wouldn't spend the $ to hunt IL anymore after hunting there for 15 years...I couldn't pass up the invitations given to me to hunt the private ground I was working on and around. It is only a an hour and half from home andmade even more inviting due to the fact that waterfowl is #1 around there with deer being a distant second place focus. So...the first $450 of my OT went right to the state of IL...and I am looking forward to putting that tag to good use!

Good luck with your Il Tag. Hour and a half drive is not so bad, but that 450. had to hurt!

Rob---I would consider myself $1000 richer if I were in your shoes....that 450 and all the work you did probably netted you a tremendous amount of new places to hunt....good work.

Nope, way too much work. I did see the biggest common carp I have ever seen just laying up agains the levee. Also did catch two little gar for our fish tank my last afternoon there.
