Default What would you guys do?

Ok, first off, I am not a fan of high fence hunting at all...but I work as a civilian at a Chemical Weapons depot which is approx. 7800 acres which of course is surrounded by a 12ft razor wire fence. And of the 7800, only about 100 of it it where the buildings are, the rest is corn and soybean fields and rolling hardwoods. This place is LOADED with deer in excess of 150". They allow hunting only on weekends and you must take a doe first, I've worked here for 6 years and never have hunted here because of the whole fence issue, BUT seeing monster deer almost daily is haunting me. I am wondering what you guys would do?I am a bowhunting, deer hunting addict, and dangling P&Y deer in front of my face is VERY tempting.

Dude, you are talking about 7800 acres, it's not like he is in a pen as a lot of guys here like to say....You still have to hunt him, get drawn and hit the mark. I would hunt there in a minute.....let me know if you want someone to come up there and hunt with you......

I personally do not like high fence hunting, but what i mainly do not like is the fact that you go, someone takes you to your spot, shows you the deer you shoot it and then you get your picture taken and that is it.to me that is shooting. I think in your case you would be behinda fence but you will be finding you own spot, doing your own scouting and handling everything on your own. To me that is hunting. just my opinion.

I have hunted a couple ranches that were high fence (for hogs), they turned us loose on 12000 acres and said have a good week....I made that hunt for 11 years running....What you just described, to me sounds like hunting with a outfitter more so than hunting high fence....Not that they don't have both but not all high fence ranches are outfitted too....A lot are do it yourself as well...

Big difference between your situation and a 100 acre pen with a bait station that your "professional guide" takes you to.

I have mixed emotions on the High Fence hunting ! I have personally hunted a few different highfence operations one was very small you might say pen instead of highfence . The other was a very large ranch. The large ranch in my opinion was no diffrent than any open area it was hard hunting no easy kills ! The small on was a joke more of a shooting than hunting situation ! You must do what suits you you shouldn't be swayed by anyone ! Sounds to me like one heck of a deal and i would be all over it !

+1 I know I would do it, because7800 acres is more than fair chase.
